At the beginning (1920s), the company used to sell sewing machine attachments under the supervision of Yosako Ose – a young businessman from Japan. Then in 1936, the company established its first Koganei factory in Takinogawa, Japan.

Then World War II started, and with this war, the company’s exports decreased as sanctions were put against the exports of Japan. During that time, it survived by selling machines to national markets under various local brands like Iron Cross, Asukane, etc. Everything was working smoothly for the company, and then it established its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, USA. With this, its exports started to increase at an exponential rate. 

In 1960, Janome purchased one of the famous brands, ‘New Home.’ Since then, the company has been selling its products all over the world. Their sales offices are situated in European countries and the United States, whereas their headquarters is in Japan. The majority of Janome machines were sold globally between the 1970s and 1980s. In the same decade, Janome established its first-ever programmable sewing machine.

This branch in the UK was established in 1968 under the name Janome UK Ltd. In 1969, it started to function. And since then, its UK branch has been selling hundreds of thousands of high-tech, best-quality sewing machines to the people. 

In 1967, the Janome manufacturing plant was established in Taipei, Taiwan. In Taiwan’s factory, mechanical sewing machines and sergers are developed.
